How much does it cost to subscribe to Popular Anthropology Magazine?
Nothing...it's absolutely FREE! All you have to do is subscribe to the magazine and we will send four issues each year to your email inbox free of charge.
I want to work for Popular Anthropology Magazine. What do I have to do?
All of our Open Positions are located under the About Us link. On this page, you can read about current open positions, and even apply for them. However, if you would like to contribute but don't see a particular position listed, we'd still love to hear from you; this magazine belongs to EVERYONE and we encourage people from everywhere to participate.
I am not an Anthropologist. Can I still submit an article?
At Popular Anthropology Magazine, we thrive on diversity. Our editors and columnists include not only anthropologists from all four subdisciplines, but also related fields such as Sociology, Economy, and Education. We encourage submissions from professionals in other related disciplines which include, but are not limited to, History, Botany, Social Work, Genetics, Philosophy, Medicine, Music, Zoology, Genealogy, and English. Popular Anthropology also welcomes submissions from freelance writers.
English is my second language, and I would like to submit my manuscript, but I'm worried about my English grammar. If I submit my article in English, will you reject it if my grammar isn't very good?
The most important matter is the content of your manuscript. If your English grammar skills are lacking but your article is outstanding, we can work around that, and we will help you clean up your manuscript of grammatical errors.
I don't speak English. Can I submit my manuscript in a non-English language?
At Popular Anthropology, we are cognizant that English is NOT the only language spoken in our world. At the moment, we are composed of a very small group of volunteers. However, we are in the process of organizing a group of volunteer translators who are willing to help translate manuscripts for us. Currently, our magazine is offered in only English and Portuguese. But we hope that with the addition of our volunteer translators, we will be able to accept articles in several non-English languages. If you are fluent in more than one language, you might consider volunteering to translate one or two articles in another language for the magazine.
