Volunteer Translators Volunteer translators do not translate the entire magazine. Instead, they volunteer their time to translate articles from non-English languages into English. Volunteers may work sporadically (translating one article per year, for example), or may choose to serve as a translator on a regular basis. Volunteer translators are all listed on the masthead of the magazine, as well as the website. In addition, translators are also needed to translate web content. Portuguese Language Edition Director The Portuguese Language Edition Director is responsible for assembling a team of translators to translate the magazine from English into Portuguese, overseeing progress of translators, and checking the final translated copies for translation and grammatical errors. The Portuguese Language Edition Director will work closely with the English Language Edition Director and production staff to publish a Portuguese language version of the magazine for both online and hard copy publications. Web Design & Webmaster This position requires knowledge of both Joomla! and HTML. Webmasters will be responsible for the creation of an entirely new design for the website as well as maintenance of the site. Webmasters will receive credit on both the website and on the magazine's online and hard copy mastheads. Director, Russian Language Edition The Director of the Russian Language Edition of Popular Anthropology Magazine will be responsible for assembling a team of volunteer translators who will translate the English edition of the magazine into Russian. The Director and his team will work with Microsoft Word copies of the manuscripts, and, after translation, will send the Russian language copies to the design team for formatting. In addition to assembling and overseeing the volunteer translators, the director will also be responsible for proofing the final copy after formatting. Fiction and Commentary Editor
The Fiction and Commentary Editor will be responsible for editing all submissions of fiction, as well as our new new commentary section. |
